Services

One of the big challenges currently faced by every company in the world is to minimize the impact of their activities on the environment. In the maritime world, up until now, most efforts have been without much obligations. Starting January the first 2018 a compulsory regulation applies to all ships above 5,000 GT. More information on the exact EU MRV regulations can be found here.

EMSDA provides a service to meet the current and future legal demands concerning the MRV regulations. But it's more than just meeting the legal requirements. We offer you tools to support you to improve your fuel efficiency and thus minimize both your carbon footprint and costs. We can support you with the obliged monitoring plan, we can deliver the yearly emission report and have it verified with one of our partners.

Our service is based on the use of data provided by sensors on board of your ship and information entered in our system by your crew. Our solution is independent of the type or make of your engine, sensors and other systems. We offer a near real time dashboard with all the important statistics and figures of all your vessels. Fieldtest

In order to provide customers with accurate and clear data we are currently preparing for a fieldtest. We will test the system in real life conditions. Our aim is to finetune the dataflow, to test security and to develop realtime onboard and onshore dashboards. The tests will be executed in the next few months on board of a vessel of our testpartner.

Certification

Currently we are in the process of selecting a certification partner for our IT-solution. We found a partner that not only can certify the IT-system, but also verify the annual MRV reports of our customers.

MRV Regulations

As per July 2015 the EU MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) Regulation came into force and will become fully effective on January 1, 2018. Objective is to have insight into the maritime sector's potential to reduce CO2 emissions and to provide opportunities in the future to achieve efficiency standards for the ships.

This MRV regulation applies to all ships above 5,000 GT (transport cargo and passengers) regardless of flag on all voyages to, from and between EU ports (and voyages between Iceland / Norway and third countries).

This means that as of January 1, 2018 every ship needs to collect data with the focus on fuel consumption and carbon emissions on all voyages to, from and between EU ports. All data needs to reported towards the European Committee on an annual basis in an verified report.

Obligations for each ship are in general as follows:
